Myths About Rotary

You do not have to own a business to belong to Rotary.

Assessing fines on club members is not a form of punishment. Fines, which are generally a modest amount, are used in a fun way to acknowledge good things that happen to members and also help increase overall funds.

Rotary does not take a lot of time. Although we meet once a week at 6:15 PM, our meetings incorporate an evening meal followed by club business and a planned speaker program. In addition to that, our Rotary Club sponsors a few fund raising activities during the year which would involve a little time of your help.

What Rotary Has Done For Brockport

The Brockport Rotary cleans up the banks of the Erie Canal which is part of our community heritage. We also pick up 7 miles of roadside debris on our main thoroughfare. Brockport Rotary has raised over $3,000 for the Seymour Library. Rotary is part of the Brockport Integrated Service Club Organization (BISCO) along with the Lions and Kiwanis clubs. BISCO raises funds for various community projects such as the Corbett Park Playground, the first of many such projects to come. As Rotarians, we donate time and talent to the Rochester International LPGA to raise over $125,000 for handicapped children. We sponsor an annual shadow day for young students seeking career guidance as well as sponsor Project Graduation and Boy Scout Troop 111. Sounds like a lot - it is but it's fun and rewarding. Feel the power and satisfaction of giving back your time and talent.
